Who We ARe
Ratzon
Ratzon is Hebrew for yearning and possibility. Our space is a place to dream up a new world and connect to your passions.
Healing and Resistance
We believe that healing and resistance go hand in hand. When oppression and violence rattles our communities we are often left with political, emotional, and spiritual wounds. Joining together to heal and fight back helps us care for ourselves and those we love.
Participation
We invite members of the community to host events at our space and get involved in our projects.
Ratzon is a place for those from marginalized communities, cultures and identities to gather in healing and resistance.
Jewish and Non-Hierarchical
We believe that ancient traditions can nurture us and teach us how to seek justice. Led and supported by the Jewish community, Ratzon uses a foundation of Jewish practice to create rituals and learning opportunities that further healing and resistance.
At our core, we aim to create non-hierarchical communities. We question hierarchies that exist in our relationships and our broader world.
What we do
We offer many resources to our community. We invite you to get involved!
Events
Join us at our space and online for programs and events centered on healing our pain and resisting that which oppresses us.
Resources
Connect with the Ratzon Food Distro to access gender affirming clothing, food, materials for activist projects and objects for Jewish ritual practice.
Youth
Join Shulayim L’Shalom for youth-led drop-in hours.
Shulayim L'Shalom is a youth group for queer Jewish teens. Check them out!
Spiritual Practice
Ratzon is a space to connect to Jewish practice. We welcome the complexity of who you are.
We offer post-denominational Kabbalat Shabbat twice a month. Shabbat dinner is nourished by One Table
Since May we have collected and distributed food and wellness items to community members in partnership with Pittsburgh Mutual Aid. In the face of crisis, we are joining together to build a network of care, support and mutual aid to help one another survive and resist.
We need volunteers to help us run our distro.
Will you support our community through this crisis?
Sign up to volunteer or donate today!
Note: All Volunteer opportunities are socially distanced
Join Shulayim L'Shalom
Shulayim L'Shalom is a queer Jewish youth group for teens ages 13 - 18. Connect to other queer teens and learn about queer activism.
Shulayim L'Shalom meets every week online. This group is open to Jewish and non-Jewish teens.
Please email shulayimlshalom@gmail.com for more information and to register.
