Our Values
Ratzon
Ratzon is Hebrew for yearning and possibility. As a collective of mostly queer and trans Jews, we strive to build community among those who have felt marginalized in mainstream Jewish institutions, and we welcome the many different people who show up in solidarity with our vision of integrating our whole selves into our communal spaces.
Anarchism
At our core, we aim to create non-hierarchical communities. We question hierarchies that exist in our relationships and our broader world. The foundation of our programs and infrastructure draws upon the resistance work and culture building of past and contemporary anarchist movements.
Collective Liberation
As queer Jews, we believe in collective liberation—that the liberation of all people is intertwined. Ratzon stands in solidarity with Palestinians and all people resisting state violence, colonization, and forced displacement, in the US and everywhere.
Healing & Resistance
We believe that healing and resistance go hand in hand. When oppression and violence rattles our communities we are often left with political, emotional, and spiritual wounds. Joining together to heal and fight back helps us care for ourselves and those we love.
Judaism
We believe that ancient traditions can nurture us and teach us how to seek justice. Led and supported by the Jewish community, Ratzon uses a foundation of Jewish practice to create rituals and learning opportunities.
Participation
We invite members of the community to host events and get involved in our projects. Ratzon is a place for those from marginalized communities, cultures, and identities to gather in healing and resistance. Ratzon is what we make it!
