Community Building at Ratzon
Queer Shabbat Hangouts
From April through October, Ratzon hosts monthly outdoor queer Shabbat hangouts to honor Shabbat and be in community with each other. The hangout dates and times are usually shared via our newsletter and Instagram a few weeks in advance.
You're welcome to bring blankets, games, tea, or whatever else might help you lean into rest and joy. You can also just bring yourself. We always have some blankets, snacks, and games to share.
All are welcome. No need to sign up, Just show up and look for our crew. We’ll cancel if the forecast calls for rain or temps below 50 degrees. We’ll also cancel if the AQI (air quality index) is above 100.
We want to honor Shabbat by moving away from capitalism & traditional productivity during our hangout, so we ask that people avoid using electronics & exchanging money in the space. (Feel free to move away from the group if you need to use your phone!)
Location & Accessibility: We generally set up in the field on the 39th St. side of Arsenal Park. The field is grassy with some uneven ground. We’ll have blankets on the ground for sitting, but feel free to bring a folding chair if that’s better for you. We’ll position ourselves based on the needs of the group.
Arsenal Park is on the 88, 54, 93, and 64 bus lines and within 0.5 mile of other bus lines. There is street parking along 39th St.
